Varsity Boys and Girls Rugby Host BSB, ASP, ISH, and ZIS on a Beautiful Saturday at ISB
Jan 23 + 24, 2025
The Varsity Girls Rugby Team continued their inaugural season, joining the Varsity Boys as hosts on the upper field all day Saturday.
Coach Keeley had the following to say: "This past weekend’s tournament was a great experience for both the boys & girls Rugby 7’s program. Both teams showed fantastic attitude, teamwork and clear improvement throughout the matches, representing the Raiders with pride on and off the field. It was especially positive to see the respect between teams and the great energy during the event. Moments like this are important not only for athletic development but also for building certain values that Rugby and the Raiders athletic program deliver."
"Congratulations to all the players for their performance and the effort they put on the field. Shout out to Alessandra, Sandra, Valentina and Captain Madeline who worked hard all day. For the boys some impressive running and decision making from JM and Wyatt with new player like JP and Mattia growing in every game."
Senior Swim Place Third in Paris
Jan 24, 2025
Despite a lengthy ride to Paris, and fielding a reduced team, ISB did well to come third not far behind ASL (London) and FIS. There were some outstanding pbs and one new school record! Congratulations to everyone who participated. A special shout out to Andrii on recapturing the 100 IM school record, which Janto had held for just one week; also to Adithya who placed in the top three for the first time; to the Senior girl's freestyle relay and the Senior mixed medley relay which still scored victories even if under strength. Other great swims - Evan's 32s 50m freestyle; Adrienne's wonderful 100m back; Amanda's 100m breaststroke. Well done everyone!

JV Girls Basketball Win
Paris Tournament;
JV Boys Take Third
Jan 23 + 24, 2025
The JV Girls had a fantastic weekend in Paris going undefeated in four games! Plenty of points off steals and a solid press all weekend kept the opposition under control. Shout outs to Natalie, Neve, and Iva hitting some clutch shots under pressure while strong ball handling from Sakura and Olive kept the pace car revved on offense.
The JV Boys won two of four games, beating Paris to start and finish the tournament. Games against ASL and FIS were both back and forth affairs, including a 31-30 heartbreaker against the Warriors. The boys finished in third and look forward to what will be a very competitive ISST tournament down the road.
U14 Girls Basketball Create Two Teams For Home Tournament
Jan 23 + 24, 2025
The U14 Girls hosted FIS, ASL, ASP, ASH, STJ, and ISD at the 2026 Raiders Invitational. Coach Omar Breaks Down the Weekend...
Strong Start: Both ISB Red and Blue won their opening games, showing solid defence and teamwork from the outset.
Resilience Under Pressure: Even against tough opponents like Paris and ASH, the girls competed hard and learned to manage nerves and physicality.
Quick Adaptation: B Team players Keala, Eirini, and Talya jumped straight into the A Team and adapted seamlessly to new teammates, systems, and higher-level competition.
Overcoming Challenges: Running with only 6–7 players due to injuries is tough, but the team hung in there and fought hard.
Big Picture: With ISB only fielding half a team each, imagine what could have been achieved with the full squad - a strong foundation for confidence and future success. Look out ISST!

Faced with overwhelming odds - (didn't someone say something about the small number of swimmers compared to other teams?) - ISB swam hard, competed ferociously, and showed the meaning of team spirit. The full results are attached.
Against opposition from ASH; ASL; ASP; BIS (Bonn); BSB; FIS; ISL; St. John's, our intrepid group of just 15 swimmers won the combined 15-18 event (Boys 1st; Girls 2nd); were 2nd in the Girls 12-14 age group; and ended with a combined total of 642, to finish a very creditable 2nd overall.
So many excellent swims, so many excellent performances.
Five new school records. Both mixed relays bookending the meet, despite finishing second by a finger, smashed the previous school records. Newcomers Janto and Mirthe bagged another three in the 100 IM and the 50/100 free respectively.
Some other highlights: Andrii's sub 25 50m freestyle (24.72); Jonathan's 100m butterfly (that's what real underwater look like), and holding on to the school 100 IM for about 2 minutes, before it was beaten by Janto; Janto's 100m breaststroke (snatching victory in the final stroke); Mila's 100m breaststroke (where did that come from?!). big pbs for John and Dahlia, others for Adrienne, Amanda, Bradley.
Also a special shout out to the 12-15 200 mixed freestyle relay (2nd) and mixed medley relay () (3rd) ( (Dahlia, Una, Bradley, Jonathan) where there was a really good effort to close the gap on the leading team(s).
Wonderful swimming everyone!

At the weekend the Senior swimming team swam at St. John's Lions' meet in Waterloo. Competing against Antwerp Griffins, ISL, and St. John's, our swimmers led the way from start to finish. The only event that ISB did not win in the 13 + categories was the 13-14 50m breaststroke. In all other events in the 11-12, 13-14, and 15 + age groups ISB was dominant.
There were clean sweeps (first three places) in the Mixed 11-12 25 butterfly, 25m freestyle, 15+ 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke. There were some superb performances. There are really too many people to mention but it was very pleasing to see great pbs from the swimmers but a special shout out to Dahlia, Jacob and to Adithya for huge drops in their best times on the 50 fly, 50 free and 50 breast respectively.
All-in-all it was a pretty good day at the office for everyone. Well done team!

The JV Girls won a gritty game on Friday night and lost an equally feisty game on Saturday. Points in transition were tough to come by so the girls fought hard to find soft spots from which to shoot. Not the cleanest of games, but plenty of things to build on going into the holiday break. Shout outs to Natalie for some clutch baskets on Friday night and to Sakura for managing the clock well under pressure. Coach Fischer wasn't immediately available at press time.
The JV Boys Basketball Team had an impressive display in Frankfurt, winning both of their games! It was back and forth action with plenty of physical play. Coach McSwain was not immediately available for comment, but a close source tells us he is proud of the work he is seeing and remains optimistic for the season ahead.
